Robot Machine
The Krauss Maffei AX180 at Plastic Closures Ltd.
Plastic Closures Ltd have recently installed their first of many electric machines. All Electric Injection Moulding Machine incorporating the LRX50 Linear Robot. They have introduced the machine to obtain higher energy efficiency, high speed precision, lower wear and cleanliness. Also, with each axis having it’s own electric drive, the mould can be opened during the plasticising phase. This shortens cycle times even further. Guaranteeing consistently high shot weights and reliable production.

Lifeboard Project in South Africa

Plastic Closures Limited will continue to donate closures to the Lifeboard Project as the Lifeboard has multiple uses, being a desk to write on when the children use them on the school bus or in the classroom, they then use them as a ‘thali’ style plate to eat from when they have snacks but most importantly the children take them home with fresh drinking water, which means that it is improving the living conditions for the whole family.

2ND JUNE 2010
Wadding Machine Project
The brief to the shop floor was to design a machine that would be able to wad up to 80mm diameter closures at speeds up to 5000/hour.
Peter Baddeley and Graham Totney spearheaded the project and produced the blue print for the machine, with the help of Newton Tesla, who provided the software and programming of the machine and finishing solutions. Responsible for the build, they created a wadding machine which both looks the part and conforms to the user requirement specification provided by Plastic Closures.
The machine has provided the company with greater flexibility on wadding and enabled us to reduce our lead times to customers significantly- a big thank you goes out to the team for bringing the machine on time and in budget.
